Liberty 70 Clock (11A13)

This clock is reputed to have been recovered from the James Eagan Layne. The clock is still in working order and shows no signs of having been underwater so was probably recovered either before or shortly after she was beached in Whitsand Bay. Other items recovered from the wheelhouse are known and were likely to have been retrieved at the same time as this clock.

The dial of the clock is inscribed 'M. LOW New York'. The mechanism is inscribed 'S F', 'Made in USA', 'No. 10'. The clock was manufactured by M. Low in New York, the M. Low Instrument Company cased clocks and watches for military use.
