Soap Box (10A04)
A single side panel from a box containing soap recovered from the wreck of the S.S. Persier in Bigbury Bay. The front of the panel has 'SUNLIGHT SOAP' printed on it in black ink and is surrounded by a red border. One end has been eroded and the other is intact, the rear of the panel shows signs of where the soap was packed against it.
The Persier was on her way to take food to liberated Belgians in February 1945 when she was torpedoed and sank in the dark. Part of her cargo included 2200 tons of soap.
